    What is Hydrocele?

A hydrocele occurs when fluid fills the scrotum of a male, causing it to expand. It is not a serious health problem, but it may be humiliating and inconvenient. Hydroceles are more prevalent in male new-borns than in adults, and there are innumerable quality treatments available to alleviate the condition. About 10% of newborn male new-borns develop a hydrocele, which usually resolves without therapy during the first year of life. Hydroceles affect only around 1% of adult males and usually go away on their own.

    Types

Hydrocele can be bifurcated into two major types:

    Communicating hydrocele

This is a kind of hydrocele that has contact (communication) with the abdominal cavity fluids. The collapse of the processus vaginalis, or the thin membrane that runs through the inguinal canal and into the scrotum, causes a communicating hydrocele. If this membrane remains open, both a hernia and a hydrocele may form. The child’s scrotum will seem bloated or big, and its size will fluctuate throughout the day.

    Non-communicating hydrocele:

The inguinal canal has closed, but there is still excess fluid in the scrotum surrounding the testicle. This disease might be present at birth or emerge years later for no apparent cause. A non-communicating hydrocele generally stays the same size or grows slowly.

    Symptoms

Hydroceles seldom cause discomfort, and the most prominent symptom is usually a chronically swollen scrotum. Nonetheless, hydroceles are often extensively unpleasant in adults. The more fluid there is in the hydrocele, the heavier the scrotum feels. Historical data also shows that some people feel that the swelling is more bothersome in the morning than in the evening.
